Top speed on the Hyper question
Does anyone here have experience or the technical knowledge regarding weather or not the Hyper will break 130mph with a sprocket change?
I'm pretty sure mine is stock 15-42 (bought it used and haven't popped the cover on the counter-shaft sprocket yet) so I'm wondering if the Hyper has some sort of govenor related to rpm in top gear that would allow it to have a higher top speed with say a 16-42 or 15-40 etc.
Haven't done a ton of mods, but mine dynoed at 92 at the rear wheel and it feels like it has some beens left to go a bit faster in a full tuck, but it just stops accelerating at 130 no matter how much straight I have left.

wrong road
SR14 > I84
That should solve the top speed issue for you. IMO, if you want top speed, buy a Busa. I think there is a thread on the site about top speed. I think many were topping out around 135.
With the addition of the larger tank, I would love to be back in the PDX area and pointing the Hyper towards Mt St Helens

Hopefully someone with knowledge rather than opinions will post up. No SR14 or I84 bullshit. I'm talking about PIR & Thunder-Hill with straights long enough. I am happy with it on the street. I have a GSXR 1000 track bike w/162@rwhp so I get my top speed fix just fine.
Mostly asking the question out of curiosity; so anyone with with real knowledge, thanks in advance; opinions ~ got more than I need.

I think you need to "eezz" up......
j/k
I don't have any first-hand knowledge on this bike but I do on many others.
If you think you have some more steam left, you could try going down a couple of teeth in the rear, but I think 2 teeth will be your max before you have to do some pretty big HP mods.
The top 2 gears on this bike seem pretty tall in comparison to the others, almost out of place with the stock gearing. When you change the sprockets to something taller, you will be spreading the ratio even more. That could hurt you in other places.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Did 134 once following one of those orange new Dodge Chargers, but it was very stupid and scary, the bike was all over ( front felt VERY loose and wavy ), I was leaning against the fuel cap, and throttle was all the way to its mechanical stop. I will not do it again !!! This bike is unsafe at anything over 100 mph.
Now, long wheelies, jejeje, that`s a VERY SAFE thing to do on this bike !!!!
Forget high speed unless you have an 1098, 999, GSXR, R1, RR, ZX, Busa, or the like.......

squirrely
I have a 2008 HYM 1100S. I took it out to the local track (Firebird) when I first got it to have a the track tech adjust the suspension for me.
Doing a lap as the bike was from the dealership it felt like it was going to vibrate me off the back going 85mph. After all the adjustments and adding the DP dampener the front still seamed squirrely over 105 mph. I don't know what the top speed of the bike is because I never let it go past 105 again.
Here's a link to the "Sprocket Ratio Chart" on DucCutters.
http://www.duccutters.com/SprocketRatioChart.tpl
Good luck.
FYI: 748's make great track bikes!

I know what you mean... you ask a question and someone who obviously doesnt know ( I dont mean that as an insult.. just a fact)n wants to tell you that your question doesnt matter.... If you have nothing to add to a conversation WHY POST???
That said you could do a search and find the top speed thread I know there is one buried in here some where...
And my hyper with cored pipes, power commander, larger tank w/ pods, and -1 in the front with read 142 on the speedo... I assume that is more like 130 actual, maybe less.

Theoretical top speed with stock gearing (15-42) is 129.5 mph.
With 15-42 gearing it will be 135.9 mph
and with 16-42 gearing it might go 138.1 mph
16-40 might possibly make 145mph
But as everyone else has indicated, whay would you want to? Some people go to a 14t counter to make the bike even more fun under a 100mph. The Hyper was designed for fun in the curves and as a hooligan bike, not top speed runs. And BTW 14-42 equates to 120.8 mph
But hey, whatever suits you.
(all top speed 6th gear speeds figured at 7750rpm)
At 8700 rpm the stock gearing will net you 145 theoretical mile per hour...

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I'm only interested in bumping it up to about 140 if it will do that without much trouble; and I would only want that for track days to make it just a bit harder for those 600's to come around me on those long straights that I pass back in the infield anyway. Thought it would be just a bit more fun.
I actually love it as it is on the street and maybe I will try a 14 up front because the guy I bought if from included one with all the other stuff he had for it. Honestly though, I have a quick-shifter on mine and I click through the gears pretty damn fast when I crack it wide open so I don't know that I need to gear it down any.
I have a steering damper on mine and keep the suspension (damping) pretty stiff and have never been freaked by any serious head-shake. I also run track tires only and inflate them to recommended track running PSI so I think that with a damper makes a lot of difference.
