Flashing Rev Limiter Light
Just got my HM delivered tonight. Very cool. Question though. The rev limiter light flashes when the bike is at rest, engine off. I don't see anything in the manual. I assume its some anti-theft flash but am not sure. Why does it flash?

Normal, its the immobilizer system, and will flash for a few hrs after the bike was last on.

Ditto
I seem to have gone through the same kind of, "why is my bike flashing" process upon arriving home from the dealer. After going through the manual, I gave up and called the dealer.
Suspicions were confirmed but man I thought I had ruined in for a moment.
How Ducati missed that in the manual or wasn't communicated during post-sale, I will never know.

Those nutty Italians. Its not in your manual--hummm. In the 999 manual the upper half of the center Red light is the indicator for the immolizer-after riding the bike (or just switching on ign) it will flash-indicating immoblizer is activefor 24 hrs (I timed it). After 24 hrs it will stop flashing just to reduce battery draw. While riding the lower half of this red light is shift (rpm limiter)indictor which comes on at 200 rpm below cut-off and top half comes on at 100 rpm below cut-off. Another example of dealer ignorance. Makes you stop and think.

'08 hyper manual
Bought this 7/07 but I went through he book again
pg 12 is a diagram and #9 draws a line to the triangle indicator light and defines this as a:
"LIMITER LIGHT - it comes on steady at 800 rpm (engine rpm) below the limiter threshold. It starts to flash upon reaching the limiter threshold."
pg 35 = THE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM
lots of text about the functioning and code keys but no mention of the flashing indicator light, that I could find. This section goes on for 5 pages with lots of talk about setting the codes.
A mention of the flashing light might be there but I can't seem to find it. This time through, I did find out we have a glove box.

Yeah. I had no idea there was a glove box until I read it in the manual. To be fair, I bought the bike from an out of town dealer and had it delivered so no post-sale explanation of the bike.
