Titanium Rear wheel nuts
Need advice on buying the titanium rear wheel nuts often found by several sellers on ebay. I realize there are several grades of titanium.
Does anyone have lessons learned? Is it worth it?

I got mine from "Podium Racing Motorcycle Supplies" (on Ebay Hypermotard section) I got the Ti nut set, which comes with the 2 nuts and the special socket, I got mine in the trick "blue," good quality, stronger & way lighter than the stock nuts. If you have the extra money, its not a bad "bling." Will it make you faster? NO, will it make your bike look faster? maybe... LOL Aloha Alex

Keep in mind that this is the highest-torqued fastener on the bike and considered to be on the leading edge of fastener design.
It's failure has significant safety consequences.
Given that the lower-grades of titanium tend to be brittle, and that the seller doesn't give any assurances regarding material grade, thread quality or strength, I'd forego the bragging rights and pass on these fasteners.

shazaam is correct ... go with a product and a manufacturer that folks have trusted for a long time ... nichols makes/markets aluminum rear wheel nuts ... much lighter than the stock three pieces, and super quality.

Also to keep in mind is that titanium is prone to galling. If you do chose to go Ti you should use a copper based anti seize or heavy moly/graphite grease. I had to grind off a titanium seat post fastener on a friends mountain bike so i have seen it happen. Don't use copper anti seize with aluminum as it causes galvanic corrosion.

These guys have been around a while now, and they use only quality titanium.
They use bar grade 5 which is 6/4 titanium (titanium 6AL4V) good stuff! Aloha Alex
