Power Commander 4
I'm looking into a Power Commander for my 08 Hyper. The PC website shows a PC3 for the 08 and PC5 for an 09. Is there a difference in electronics between an 08 and 09? Or will the PC5 work on an 08? TIA.

Call Dusty at Dynojet. He's the man to ask.

I had asked this question to DynoJet in October, and this is the reply:
"We are only officially supporting the install of the PC5 on the 09 and newer
models. We have only tested the PC5 on 09 models. We have only tested
the PC3 on the 08 models and that is the unit we support to put on your
bike. We do not support any install of the PC5 on 08 and older bikes. Some
units may retrofit back to older years but we are not doing any testing or
supporting the install on 08 and older models. Also, if the unit does retrofit
back to an earlier model there may not be any compatible pre-developed
maps.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

From this it seems that they don't have the capacity to back-test for compatability
issues on all years and models of bikes with the intro of the PC V.
However, since the 2008 and 2009 Hypermotard models are using the same
engine and Magneti-Marelli injection system, it stands to reason that the
PC V will work fine on a 2008.

Good post Dave, however, THIS ^^^^ is why I suggested he call Dusty for the scoop. In fact, I'll call him this week. He's an old friend, we grew up in CT together. I'll try to find out the scoop.

All right!!! We have our '08 model Beta tester...
BTW, you mean PC "5" ("V") right... I think they skipped the 4 (IV).
Gotta love those Roman numerals...

I am curious to see how it works. I might be interested in swapping my III for a V, maybe even a 4.
Out!
