Finally dropped the bike
It was bound to happen.
I was on a mellow group ride with mixed bag of riders. There were three groups ranging from fast to slow. I opted for the fast group where there were three of us, another Duc and a very capable female rider on a Suzuki VStrom. I was following her on a damp road. Her line was excellent, she was riding conservative but evidently hit some moss or something very slick. She lowsided on a LH turn going no more than 25-30. The bike slid across the lane and flipped into a ditch. I freaked, stopped my bike, didn't get the kickstand all the way down as a rushed to help her and dropped the Hyper. Broken hand guard, mirror scuffed, minor scuff on the bottom of fork, minor scratch on left shroud and bent shifter.
The good news; we met for drinks last night, had a great time and plan to see one another again. The bad news, cost of repair on the Hyper.
Does anyone have a left hand guard for sale? All I need is the plastic piece that holds the turn signal that sits between the aluminum bar end extension and clamp 1/3 of the way down on the bar. I don't need the turn signal.
This was my first time seeing someone go down on the street. It was frightening. I come from dirt bikes where falling is common. I damn near idled the bike back home. The rider of the Suzuki had full leathers with armor and walked away unscathed. In fact, she completed the ride.
I am in the Bay Area of California.
Thanks,
Don

Good to hear that everyone is o.k.!! I got a left guard middle piece w/ blinker. It's got some scuff marks on her though. I saw one on Fleabay yesterday good shape $120.00.
Good luck!

Yes, always clear in retrospect.
I removed the handguards and mirrors off the new bike and sold them on ebay for $230 complete, a couple of weeks ago.
When the inevitable happened to me (leaving the driveway of the tire shop of all places - with new tires) the crash bobbins and handlebar ends did the job with no damage.

Sounds like the start of a romantic film or something. Keep us posted!

All things considered, that is a cheap price for a piece of tail. I wish I could could have your bad luck.
Sounds like your covered but there are a couple offered up on Ebay at this time. I am tempted to get a RH one as my Hyper fell over in the trailer and the hand guard has a slight crack. Still works fine, just annoying.
IMO, don't waste your money on replacement, spend the money on the DP handle bar mounted integrated turn signal/mirror. That is my plan if my Hyper doesn't sell.

If I'm going to drop my Hyper for a piece of tail, she better be fine. New replacement costs; $90 for the shifter, $200 for hand guard assembly $60 for the mirror not to mention the scratch on the end of the fork slider. $350 should get you something nice.

you better hope that either she does not read this thread ... or that her price is less than $350.
