Hypermotard OEM Clutch basket
gents,
At my 15000 mile service the tech told me my clutch basket is shot and the plate are worn. I am current researching which clutch basket / plate setup that can handle my aggressive riding. The tech recommends going with the EVR slipper clutch assembly, but I am not sure if I want a slipper clutch. I need some recommendations on a strong clutch basket and clutch plate setup that can handle my riding style.

Switch to 48T basket and plates and you'll get a lot more mileage than with 12T like the OEM setup. EVR slipper clutches are 48T and very well constructed so a good recomendation from the tech.

I'v got the Barnett aluminum basket, what makes this one different is that the basket edges where the clutch plate tabs touch, are covered in stainless steel, to minimize the grooving/denting of the clutch basket, it also make the clutch a little quieter, I am running the DP race slipper in it, but the stock clutch fits in it as well. I have a MPL Tuning aluminum-titanium basket. Similar construction to 08hyper's, except the inserts are titanium. It has 8,000 miles or so on it and looks fresh as the day I got it.

what a joke, how can a $15000 bke have a worn clutch basket at 15k miles? I am seriously disappointed in the quality of these Ducatis (even though I love them). I had an XR650R I rode for 20,000 miles (street too) and beat the living crap out of that clutch on single track and a bazillion clutched wheelies) and never even changed a chain, sprocket much less a clutch plate/basket
sigh

You can't compare a wet clutch to a dry clutch. If you look at a wet clutch Ducati the basket will not wear the same way the dry clutches will.

OEM clutch baskets are never the same quality of a good aftermarket clutch basket. I have always replaced any basket on any of my dirt bike, atv and motorcycle baskets....the aftermarket products are better...
