Custom Exhaust / pipes

I'm having some straight pipes built for my hpr.
Welder suggested using Aluminized vs mild steel.
Looking for advise on material - what is aluminized?

I'm going to have them coated anyway.

Aluminized can be a pipe spray-on coating process, to help the steel from rusting, keep heat inside, and cleaner looks. Lot of car headers are done this way.

Muffler shops use alumminized steel tubing to make the pipe more workable, for the bends and the expansions/contractions of the pipe. Aloha Alex

Do it in stainless steel, will hold up better. Also Burns stainless has u and j bends in different sizes to solve the problems with radius that are to tight to make with a normal mandral bender. Mild steel will not hold up as long under the temps of a aircooled engine. I have built many systems first hand and stainless is best with Ti being better, but more crack prone but beautifuly lighter in weight and apperance when done right. Ask your fab guy to back gas the tubing, If he does not know what that is, look for another guy.
