[HM1100SX]

I have an '08 S with the Carbon Termi Slip on including the ECU and filter cover and am looking to remove the CAT to hopefully gain some db and power.

1. What is the difference (other than price) between the Leo Vince link pipe and the Ducati Manifold assembly? Power, Quality?

2. Do I need to re-tune with either?

3. What type of torque, HP increase can I expect?

4. Or should I just spring for the complete header pipes?

Just done mine had the Termi slip ons (2 cans) ECU and filter cover , With the DP Pipes ,came another ECU, needs to be Tuned, $50,oo at dealer , HP?don't know did it for the look of no cat. saved 7 poundsof weight..

I have the LeoVince GP slip-ons with the kat elim pipe. Have the DP ecu but if i would do it again i would just have the stock one re-flashed. The system is great and better quality that Termi.

Hi Doug,

You can't beat the price of the LV cat elim abd it runs the same bends and layout as the stock cat. Others runa cleaner route similar to the 2-1 pipe with less loopdy doo's. I'm running the LV system with the stock headers and I like the power and sound.

I love the Termi's (slip ons and the DP cat eliminator), first Duc I've owned so it seemed the right thing to do. That being said - I'd go with the LeoVince product anytime on any bike. I'll be ordering their cat eliminator soon and might even just swap out to their whole setup top to bottom and sell the Termi's.

To me, all those cat eliminators seem a bit of a kludge since they don't take
care of the exhaust valve section. Something like a set of Zard collectors
cleans up the whole system for under $500, looks sexy, has equal length
header pipes with included fittings for the oxy sensor and the CO probes, plus
it gets rid of the exhaust valve lump. Can use the stock mufflers or other
aftermarket slip-ons that fit the stock exhaust set-up. My two cents...

The Zard's do look pretty sweet and I like the idea of removing the "flapper" - does the kit include the hardware/software necessary to remove the mechanism that opens/closes the flap and any error codes?

No, there is nothing in the Zard kit to address the issue of error codes resulting
from removal of the flapper valve. During the installation of a Zard exh. system,
I did the mod w/two threaded bolts coming out of the stepper motor pulley at
180 degrees from each other (which has been documented in other threads)
to prevent over travel of the exh. valve stepper motor, and the errors went away.
You can use the hidden service function to read the initial position of the
stepper motor before removing the pulley for mods and replace it exactly where
it was. Some guys replace the pulley with a piece of aluminum sheet stock
about 0.5 inch wide by 2.5 inches long, drilled in the center, that limits the
servo motor rotation. I believe Leo Vince was actually shipping these bar-type
travel limiters with their full systems?

The common solution to exhaust valve errors is to swap in a DP race ECU!
There is also the possibility of an electronic servo emulator which is said to be
only a few weeks from release from MotoCreations.

BTW, the Hyper rides fine with an exhaust valve error code, but the resulting
check engine light is annoying.

1. The LV's are better made than the DP ones.

2. You should retune after any exhaust or intake change, for max performance,
but ride her first, then decide if its worth it, sometimes its close enough.

3. HP about 1 HP (maybe) but you will have better throttle response, a gain in db
and a weight loss of 4 to 5 lbs.

4. The full system is better (slightly) in terms of all out performance, due to better
exhaust routing, larger diameter tubes & closer equal length headers.
