Titanium Bolt Replacement
I am about to replace the 10 front disc retaining bolts and the 8 tripple clamp bolts with a coloured anodised titanium type.
I know the torque settings but could do with some advice about fitting them, 22Nm for clamp bolts and 25Nm for disc bolts.
I am unsure as to which should have copper slip or loctite applied.
Also am I correct in thinking if I hot bolt the tripple clamp bolts I wont need to follow any tightening sequence.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks
John

for the titanium going into aluminum i suggest using the supplied copper lube that pro bolt gives you with the kits i have the triple trees done in ti used the copper and tourqued worked fine.

I too was going to install the "blue" Ti rotor bolts when I did my rotor change to the Galpher rotors, but I found out that when you install Ti bolts you are supposed to apply anti seize on them to prevent thread damage, and the stock rotor bolts are installed with locktite, which is not good on the Ti bolts. So for my safe of mind, I decided to keep the stock bolts so I could use the locktite. But I will be using the Ti bolts in other areas, just not on the rotor bolts.
Also make sure the thriple clamps bolts you get are from his latest batch, as the original ones he sold were too short, so he was going to make up some longer ones. PM him to find out, Aloha Alex

Also consider that torque settings are different if you use any type of thread lubrication/anti-corrosion/loctite etc.

I have replaced the stock rotor bolts, with Ti hex head bolts on 3 different front wheels, using Ti Prep paste and have not had a problem of the bolts loosing.

Just a reminder: not all grades of steel have the same strength, and not all grades of titanium have a yield and tensile strength greater than steel. Braking forces are high and rotor bolt failure is a critical safety issue, so higher strength bolts provide a necessary safety factor.
So, make sure that you use at least Grade 5 titanium bolts, and buy from a reputable source. When possible buy bolts that have a specific application, e.g. for use for brake rotors. If you’re not sure of the quality or source, my advice is not to use them in critical connections.

I agree you need to use good quality bolts. I get my Ti bolts from http://www.racebolts.com/. I've been underwhelmed by ProBolt quality

Thanks for the replies guys.
I believe the bolts are fit for purpose, got them from Podium Racing in the US.
Just ordered 4 caliper bolts for front end, all in blue so should look great when fitted.
Cheers

Fitted the 10 titanium rotor bolts with no problems.
The titanium tripple clamp bolts are 5mm shorter that std.
Contacted supplier and been told they have been fitted on their bike and that their engineer has has tested/evaluated this and there is no problem.
If this is the case and there isnt a problem then fine.
Whats peoples thoughts on fitting tripple clamp bolts that are 5mm shorter, their is still a lot of thread securing the clamps.

post a pic please when you get it done. Anyone pulled off their calipers and powder coated them? They'd look nice in Brembo Red
