Look at this message left on my bike....

Yesterday, I got up for a GREAT day, and when I got to my bike to go to work, found a message written on my tank.
I left the bike inside the Apartment Building Lobby ( locked area ), because the main entrance rolling gate broke and was stuck open. To protect the bike from burglars, I put it inside the Lobby, which is huge, and out of anybody`s way, from 11:30 PM `till 5:00 AM, roughly 5-1/2 hrs.
I guess one of my neighbors did not like that and left me a very graphic message. It was done with something very sharp, and I belive it went all the way to the white primer.
I don`t know what to do, I spoke to ALL of my neighbors, and we ALL agree on who it was, but I have no proof. I never had any problems whatsoever with anyone, matter fact, I am the one that helps everybody and thats what hurts the most, I never ever had a single complaint or problem with anyone.
I believe the person just did not like the bike there. The person we think was the burglar, already had complained to my girlfriend that he does not like her to have her bike in her apartment entrance ( private lobby ), and had made comments to other neighbors about this.
What will you do ????

I would scratch a message on the suspected neighbor's door saying "I know what you did." Then I would buy an axe and embed it in the door and drip drops of Ducati red touch up paint on the axe and floor beneath it.

Is this an indoor or out door area your talking about? If it's outdoor you can be pissed but if you brought it into an indoor common area, it's a safety/fire violation in almost any state and the jerk who scratched it thinks he's teaching you a lesson...

Calling the cops will get him cited for putting it in the lobby.

Well, #1 get a cover that has gromits down low so you can cover you bike and lock the cover on. Talk the the building management about appropriate storage and/or think of investing in some kind of PODS type structure that can be place in a vehicle spot. Most apt. buildings I have lived in have surveilance cameras for the common areas. If there is a tape, request it from the building manager (may need a lawyer for this, depending on their policies) and then depending on what the tape shows, go legal on his ass.

After that, get a valve stem remover and remove the valves from 2 of more of his tires. This is not destructive but a total pain in the ass to resolve!!!! If he is a CAT LOVER and he lets cat out to play, un-supervised, it could be relocated to the shelter as a feral feline that you found outside and neglected.
