Got wiped out on Mulhulland

Watch out for squids! I was going down the hill towards the Rock Store to get a bottle of water before heading home. Riding my HMT at an easy relaxed pace. ( I just turned 68 in August and do not ride real hard at all) I'm on a down hill left hand curve when a pack of 3 youngsters is heading up the same part of the road. All of a sudden, in the blink of an eye, one of the bikes low sides and slides across the road and takes me out. I now have a busted ankle and a knee problem as well. Lots of pain and may need surgery. To top it off the guy is now saying that he doesn't think he hit me, intimating that I just crashed on my own. Let me publicly thank the Fire Dept guys. They were there fast and took care of me like I was one of their brothers. Best care in the whole world. We are all lucky to have them. I also heard that he CHP guys that did the report were more than thorough. They spent literally hours doing the report. I think they saw evidence that my account of what happened did happen and the kids were trying to trump up a story to escape responsibility. I hope that the guy has insurance.

Glad you're okay... hopefully you'll be back in the saddle in no time.

Very sorry to hear about your accident. Get well soon!

Even though I'm only 34, I don't ride hard as well, and I'm sure some douche canoe with a bike, car or other will be the one at fault if and when I go down again.

sorry to hear about your mishap and glad to know you're on the mend. did you find out why the oncoming motorcyclist went down first?

That really sucks. Let's hope they have insurance, do you have uninsured coverage?

Worry about the healing, let the insurance company worry about who pays for it. You should have uninsured coverage as someone else mentioned. I thought it was standard in a policy. I believe it is here in NY anyway. Best of luck and speedy recovery. It could have definitely been worse.
