Hypermotard tires

Hello,
Besides the tires that came stock on the hype, what tires would anyone recommend for this bike? anything in particular anyone might have a good explanation for. I am going to be needing tires soon and they are the originals and not sure where to go with this.
Thanks,
Tom

I like the BT-021 rear 016 front combo, My stock setup BT-014 was great for grip but i ended up with a flat spot way before i did much damage to the sides. my new 021 has a commuter quality hard rubber in the center and nice soft side rubber for the traction when you need it. works good for the weekday grind and the weekend canyon carving. I like that it's a commuter/sport tire and still has an aggressive looking pattern and also it's one of the cheaper costing brand name tires on the market, thats my two cents

For all around use, I would suggest Pirelli Syncs, for aggressive canyon riding with some track-days, Bridgestones BTO16, Pirelli Corsa III, Michelin 2CT, for even more race style tires for street & track, the new Bridgestones 003 (I'm testing now) or the Michelin Power One IMHO Alex

After having a great experience with Michelin Pilot Powers (not 2CT) on my DR-Z400SM, I threw a set (again, not 2CT) on the Hyper last week. I don't know how they're going to hold up on the Hyper but handling has been greatly improved over the Bridgestone BT-014s that came stock on mine.

In what way? I'm not having any real problem with the BT-014S's, except that they like to "hop" in bumpy corners. Lowering the pressure helped a lot, but the hop is still there...

I found that the BTs would fight me in corners and I had to constantly correct by keeping pressure on the bars. The Pilot Powers are very neutral once leaned over and don't need that constant pressure.

hypermotard tires

Thanks everyone. I thought of the dual compound but wasn't sure that was the way to go on this bike for me. I have a track bike so this probably wouldn't go there. Someone said they got a flat spot on the stock tires way to soon before they should have. I am finding the same thing so I will not go back to those. I have corsa III on my track bike and was not a big fan. I just ordered BT003's for that bike but they are not in yet.
At any rate thanks for all the info and will be fun picking out a set.

i like lamp.

seriously, bt016 front and rear. have gotten 3500 miles out of the first set, still have another 1000 to 1500 in the rear tire. great grip, warm up quickly, very predictable feel. and, pricing is still great on these tires, as bridgstone has priced them in the channel here in america, to get lots of sell through.

You won't be disappointed with Pilot Powers, I am really happy with them. If you want more grip, the 2CT's are only a few bucks more and the same hardness in the center for commuting and softer on the sides. I am going to try them next.

I've been using BT021 rear and BT014 front for a while now. It is a great street combo. I even got by with a morning session of a track day with the combo. I didn't want to push it any further because I saw some overheating wear starting. I could've controlled the wear a while longer, but I chose to torment the track bike instead. I've gotten over 4k hard miles on the BT21 so far and at least another 1500 to go before I hit the wear bars in the center.
