Battery held in?
Can anyone take a picture of their battery or describe how it's tied down?
Mine seems to just be sitting there loose under the seat and I am wondering if I'm missing a strap or anything.

There is a hold down that the dealer is supposed to retro fit, under recall, I believe. I have one on my 08. The part number for the screw is 77915581A. I was given this number by the tech at the Ducati shop in Brea.

I still had my battery tie down bar so I just went to the local hardware store for the new stuff.
M5 bolt with a .8 pitch, 30-35mm in length. I added two washers and a nyloc nut.

So there is a tie down bar? Which part is it in the fiche, or do you have a photo? What do you mean the new stuff, how come you had to get new bolts?

Let me check the fiche; I don't think I saw it.
UPDATE: there is no battery bracket on the parts fiche. I went front to back and back to front, nada.
Sorry; missed your last question. The stock bolt sheared off at the bolt head when I went to remove my side carbon guard. New stuff just meant new hardware; the 30mm bolt, washers and nyloc nut.

Yes, I sure don't have that bar.. I wonder if the dealer knows what it is if it's not on the fiche.
What online fiche were you using? I have a few other parts I'd like to look up.
Thanks for the help and the excellent pics.

Battery strap - dealer recall
The battery tie down was fitted as part of a recall on '07 machines ie those not fitted with them at the factory. Not sure about the US but this def happened in Europe.
Your dealer should be able to find details.

The bracket in the picture is correct. Your dealer can get one for you. Also, the fix includes velcro to attach to the bottom of the battery to help hold it from vibrating. You will find that a lot of small sandy stuff will accumulate below and around the battery bottom, over time this stuff will act as sandpaper and dig into the battery and/or gas tank. Not the best design. Someone should design an after market shield so that no stuff gets there. I also had the stock bolt/screw top break off. I also replaced it with one from the hardware store. I got the part number after I had already done my own fix. I want the dealer to get the proper bolt for me though.
