7 pounds of savings from Battery

I just shaved 7 pounds (6.8 actual), off my Hyper by replacing the battery. Anyway this is a new battery technology called Lifepo4, non-lead based, they use it in other stuff and this guy on the KTM site and Thumpertalk site started making them a couple years ago for the dirt bikes with electric starts and everybody is raving about them. Anyway I bought it for the SM bike, but asked the guy about putting it in the Hyper. He said it should turn it over that he used them in Jap inline 4s 1000s and the charging it typical on all bikes. I did a bunch of research on this technology, all seems great. And that is crazy wieght savings in one shot. Battery was $160 which is expensive but about 60 bucks more than a regular one. Feel like a toy compared to the Hyper battery.

Anyway here are some pics...

All I can tell from your incoherent post is that you agree you have shit for brains...like 24.75 pounds of it...and that you like turd sandwiches...

Try to stay on topic... lightwieght batteries for people who actually ride their bikes.

That's a nice weight savings and I like the casing used on this battery. I've been running a Speed Cell battery which appears to use similar battery cells. I use a quick disconnect setup to easily swap the battery for use on my other bikes. My battery is mounted in the stock location using heavy duty Velcro.

what is this quick disconnect you are talking about... I would love to have that!!! I could just switch it between the bikes since I never ride them at the same time... awesome

Yes I believe that this is similar to the speed cell

This guy JoeT is a little more upfront about the technology, its basic...anyone with a bit of time and know how can make one... I was going to but wanted to support the guy for doing it. You can buy the battery cells on line and make the same set up if you know about wiring batteries together... I think for about 70 bucks in material then just shrink wrap it and stick it in... they will charge on a normal motorcycle system as a lead battery.

Here is the post that got me started on this battery. The battery starts the Hyper fine. When you first read the post he isn't selling them with the case...and they were cheaper now he does the case and it clean. Shipping and response was great. I hope he does well with this. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=743306
