Cleaning
Greetings all,
I have been spending a lot of time trying to remove road grime and clutch dust from the hyper, not to mention bugs from the front fairing and fenders.
I have had good luck with the honda cleaning products on other bikes but the cases and the peg assemblies seem to be immune to the honda products.
Any words of wisdom on the cleaning of the hyper?
Chemicals to use and or avoid would be helpful!!!
Best regards,
Joe

hi there BigJoe....i doubt you are having trouble removing debris from the plastics (don't let the bugs stay on too long) so let's concentrate on the pegs/cases:
with a slightly warm engine, try using (along with a microfiber towel)
soapy water
diluted simple green
spray detailer
wd40
s100 (if u can still find it)
don't use:
harsh chemicals, polishes or abrasives on the painted cases
search around, there are many threads on the subject matter.
take care

I hit mine with Simple Green Automotive then hose it off and wash with a soft rag and some Turtle Wax soap. An occasional Turtle Wax spray on the plastics.
Out!

Get it hot after a wash to drive off moisture, water WILL accumulate under the belt covers after a rinse with a hose.

How about clay bars and car polishes?
are these problematic with the paint?
I know dumb question but the honda polish worked mint on my wifes bike, the second i used it on my R1 it destroyed the clear coat.
also what kind of dilution are we talking for the simple green? 50/50?
also any particular areas to watch out for with the hose? I have never had a bike so exposed other than dirtbikes and just soaking it with a hose seems kind of wrong to me

Wash?
I still haven't washed mine. I simply replace the plastics after a crash and then ride in the rain.
Kidding aside, don't use walnut shells. But seriously, Simple Green should do it for you.

Dam that sound scary familiar when I was racing...
I use Simple Green concentrate mixed ~50/50 with water for the most areas minus plastic and painted. When it's really nasty greasy I'll sparingly use non-chlorinated brake cleaner.
95% of the time I use Honda polish or now Motul Clean & Wax.
If I'm feeling ambitious (which is rare) I will use traditional polish and waxes, typically Meguiar's professional series and some 3M products.
I never heard of Honda polish ruining clear coat.
