Speedo Error Code 36?

I fired up my bike today to go for ride and when I got going I noticed my speedo was not working. Shortly thereafter the orange maintenance light (upper leftmost corner of dash) lit up, followed by a Speed 36 code. I rode about 20 miles turned the key on and off a couple of times and it still does not work, the light is on, but the error code gone. The odo and trip meter are also not working and the tach seems to only work up to about 5000K rpm.

I rode a few miles yesterday and it worked fine. I then washed the bike last night. I noticed when when I was driving it back into the garage the speedo hit 7 mph, I doubt I hit 3 mph. I then let the bike run for a few minutes to dry out the pipes and clutch.

It seems to run just fine, but nothing much works. Unfortunately, I am out of town for a ride in the sticks and could really use the information to track mileage.

I will pull the connections in the morning to see if they are wet. Maybe pull the battery cable to see if it resets. Any ideas? Thanks.

Out!

I actually disconnected the Speedohealer and the speed sensor connector behind the frame above the clutch cover and then reconnected everything and it now works. I have to reprogram the Speedohealer now and see what happens then.

Still not sure if it was the washing or what. I have washed it plenty of times and haven't had a previous problem. The Speedohealer is supposedly water tight and looks the part.

Out!

Weird. Hopefully the problem goes away.
