Hyper Track Speed Worries
I would love to take the Hyper to the track, but I have some worries about getting run over by faster bikes going down the straight. I know it wouldn't be an issue at some shorter tracks like CMP or VIR Patriot, but tracks like full course VIR or Summit Point scare me. I've had previous bikes (I4's) in the 150-160 (indicated) range on the track and I just don't want to get myself run over.
For those of you taking the hyper to the track, have you run into this speed differential problem or do I just need to man up and get out there?
Also, how are the stock tires at the track? I'm a big Michelin fan and don't have a lot of Pirelli experience.

Are you talking track days or racing? I've done track days and raced a Duc 750SS, Aprilia RS250 and RSV1000 over a 30 mph top end difference and didn't worry about getting run over. I've been on track days with the 750SS and RS250 with I4 600, 750, 1000 on track at the same time, hold your line and someone faster coming up will go a around you. I would be more worried bracking zones and turns with some of the people I've seen on the track.
VIR, I've raced the North course on my old RS250, loved it! The full course looks awesome.
Get out there and have fun

I won't be any worse than when I was back in rookie CCS class at NHIS. I was on a 600 at the time, but I recall one student who was REALLY slow, even on the straights, and there was another guy on a litre bike. The closing speed must have been close to 80mph depending on where he happened to catch her. He never ran her over Although I ran him down every time we got to a corner....

There is nothing to worry about, let them smoke you on the straight, hold your lines, brake late, take advantage on the turns and slow turns, catch them up pass them and piss them off.

+1 on that. It is the passers responcibility to make clean passes and get by. Just hold your lines and be predictable. Have fun!!!

It may not be the best for the ego, but don't put your self in the fastest bracket.

I never been in the advanced group. I've always run in the novice group on a 600 but after dealing with so much traffic last season, I finally manned up and signed up for an intermediate day. It's amazing how much clear track I had in that group! Now I don't want to go back to novice ever again.
I might just sign up for novice first to see how the speeds are and if I run into a lot of traffic again I'll just bump up to intermediate.
I can't WAIT to get back on the track!

It's already been said... hold your line and be predictable. 08Hyper and I run in the intermediate class on the larger tracks so we're not in the way of the racer wannabies in the race group. We usually run in the top 5 in the intermediate group even with our slow speed down the straight so it works OK. Remember track days are about having fun and learning, so do your best to check your ego at the door.
I've learned that there will always be somebody faster and I'm OK with it.... for the most part
Just be careful of the dopes that pass you like stink in the straights and then slam on the binders in the turns and are way slower than they need to be. I almost rear ended a pack of riders twice at Fontana that way. Dickweeds...
Cheers
