ECM question

Had a quick question.... from my research here, it sounds like some people are running the DP ECM with the stock exhaust. My question is, exactly what ECM is being referenced here? Is it the one that comes with the Termi slipons? If so, how are you buying it by itself?

I ask because I don't want to shell out for the Termi slipons right now, but I know the bike is very lean in stock trim. Sounds like just slapping the ECM in to richen things up is a good idea.

If you bike is stock you should not need a DP ECU, in fact you can run with a opened up stock airbox, OR a slip-on exhaust, with the stock ECU, BUT NOT BOTH! If you find the bike not running as smooth as you'd like I here the Fat Duc 02 manipulator will richen things up slightly and make the bike smoother.

There are 2 basic DP ECUs, an exhaust one that will supply 8% more fuel and a exhaust with cams ECU that will supply 18% more fuel.

The best way to get a DP ECU other than finding one on Ebay (if your lucky) is to buy the Ducati cams kit which will come with the 18% richer DP ECU.

I did hear that there might be someone that can "reprogram" a stock ECU to the DP ECU specs, but I do not know who or how much, or even if it really works, hope this helps. Aloha Alex

The DP ECU for the 2-1 or the one for the slip ons is a huge improvement on an otherwise stock bike. Mine had no stalling issues stock but was rough off idle and ran a bit hot. The trim winds up being a bit leaner than with an aftermarket pipe but its not too rich with stock cans overall. It is way too lean stock, that is for sure. I think the cam kit ECU would be too rich though, 18% increase in some areas of the map is an aweful lot of fuel.

Thats certainly better than nothing. The advantage of buying the ECU as soon as you can find one is that not only do you immediately solve the lean mixture rideability issues, but you are then set up for any mods you may do in the future without concern about running lean.
