08 leftover or wait for 09?
Hi all,
Looking to buy a Hyper, but my local dealer only has a leftover 08 (base) at present.
Is there anything that was done for the 09 model that I should really wait for? My expectation is to pay $12k out the door for an 09, so I'm guessing I could get the 08 for maybe $11k OTD, which isn't really enough of a savings to really make it worth it to me if there were enough changes for 09 that I should just wait.
Cheers!

There is no big difference between the '08 and '09 base model, however, '09 you get in red or white.

The prices have gone up on 09 models, grab the 08, but do you want the S Model, you might want to look for an 08 s

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification guys. I wasn't sure if the fork change applied to the base model as well.
I'm going to offer $11k OTD on the 08 and see what they say. I'm hoping the fact that I'm paying cash still holds some sway these days, but I'm finding that to be less and less the case.

I walked into the dealer in June '08 with cash and got the bike for MSRP (12K) out the door. I think 11K now on a leftover is more than a reasonable offer.

Hey,
I took a test ride and signed the papers on a "leftover" '08 within minutes of returning from the ride. Loved it! Coming from a Multistrada. Finally, a bike that fits me and ticks all the boxes.
My dealer was blowing the '08's out for $9,999.00 plus prep, etc. I got the last one. My OTD is $10,700. $11k is not too bad. New '08's are getting harder to find...

How can the OTD be so low if he sold you the bike for $10K + prep? The tax alone in NY must be about $800.....

By "OTD", I meant bike cost + dealer charges. I didn't consider sales tax in the price. Plus, my sales tax was significantly reduced due to my trade in. OK, so my OTD including tax is a tick over $11k.
If heffergm can get the bike out the door 'including' sales tax for $11k, that would definitely be a good deal!
BTW, I think '09's will go for more than $12k "OTD"... I think more like $12k PLUS dealer prep/fees and sales tax. Closer to $13.5. The Hypers seem to be moving quickly, so I don't think they'll discount the '09's at this point.
Picking mine up later this week! Woo Hoo!
