Cloudy Sight Glass--Revisited
sorry to keep beating this dead horse, but i have been riding in warm weather and my sight glass is still clouded. i have fresh mobil 1 synthetic in the bike. i rode over the weekend and had the temp well into the 220's. 226 was the max and average was about 222.
how hot does it have to get for this to clear up?!

Wobble/swing your bike side to side while stopped and it will wipe the window clean, if you have had a bit of residue there it can stick around, nothing to worry about.

some synthetic oils get aggitated by the oil pump and air gets entrained in the oil. Makes it look a bit cloudy. Is it only cloudy when running or even when it's cold?

Yeah... I've been workin' out. BTW I shaved two tenths off my lap times riding naked. The key is to wear a G-string to stop the high speed flapping. That or duct tape.

it is cloudy all of the time. the entire sight glass is clouded over. in a previous thread, everyone was saying to just wait for winter to end and when the engine gets hot enough, it will burn off any condensation that has accumulated in the crankcase.
i'm just curious how hot is adequate? we talking boiling here? if we are, then i have more than reached that threshold.
using the attached formula, we can determine that water boils at 212f deg.
any moisture should boil out by that point. i'm gonna ride the wheels off of this thing this coming weekend and see what happens. if heat is what we are looking for, i'll give it heat. i just want to make sure that i don't hand grenade my engine.

It get's pretty warm over here in summer so I asked my dealer what is too hot for these engines. He said to shut it down at 120 degC, which is pretty close to 250 degF.

No issues of foam in Az. We do have a monsoon season and my fridge will frost during this time, but not the bike. The manual sez something about oil temp shut down above 300 deg F.
