Rear Tail fell off...

I was riding yesterday and the whole assembly where the license plate and the turn signals hang broke off and just hung from the three cables. It got damaged when it got stock between the tire and the shock.
The metal subframe that attaches to the bike broke. I wonder if anybody else have seen this. I`m going to the dealer to see if warranty covers this.

Mine fell off.

Twice.

Factory has safety recall for it. So yes, covered by warranty.

Johnny, that was a recall on some of the earlier Hypers, they replaced the rear plate bracket with stronger one, I'm surprised your dealer did not tell you, have them to check for all the updates, there are others, Aloha Alex

perhaps one of the threads from his rear tire grabbed the license plate bracket, and pulled everything else with it

Yeap, they should have call me, or better, I visit the Dealer regularly, they could have told about recalls, but....
I never expected the Dealer to help me after I try to warn everybody about the Stalling issue my bike ( and others ) have.
They did not help me when I needed help with the stalling problem, they tried to BS me, and I still waiting ( 6 months later ) for their phonecall on this issue after they said they will call DNA for advise, until I get a phone call and at least a no-solution-available response, I will prevent others from getting BS from their local dealers.
Sorry if it hurts. New Hyper buyers will be glad they knew.

Thumbs down

My bracket also broke off while I was riding to Laguna Seca for the Moto GP race. When I arrived in Monterey, I noticed the shredded wires hanging down. It took me a minute to figure out what happened. The plate also scratched up my rim fairly good. I took it to the delaer and they told me about the recall. They took pictures and said they would get a hold of DNA. I got a call about a week later that the DNA rep said they would do the recall but would not cover the wheel because it was cosmetic. So due to Ducati's failure to manufacturer a part that can stand the rigours of normal riding, the value and asthetics of my bike have been lowered and I'm going to have to pay about $40 to replace my license plate that was lost. That is probably all the convincing I need that my next bike should be the BMW S1000RR. The dealer though has been cool. They are still working on trying to get it covered and told me that worse case scenario, they'll use take off blinkers etc from another bike. I still end up with a scratched wheel and money out of pocket though. I think this one will be up for sale as soon as the repairs are done.

wish we could sticky all the warranty threads
This is a common problem, just lucky a cager pointed out my tailight carbunkle was hanging by a thread before I scratched my wheel.
It would be nice if people could check all the recall issues at a glance?
