Hinson slipper clutch
Does anyone know how the Hinson slipper functions?I've only been able to find vague descriptions. Is it ball and ramp, continuous screw, or other?

It is made by suter... check out http://www.suterclutch.com/
It is ball bearing/ramp, but the ball bearings are in a sealed oil compartment. This is by far the most adjustable clutch I've used. I did some testing on the prototype when suter first started working on the full clutch for the Ducati... This one: http://www.suterclutch.com/forge/sho...9&category=153
I really enjoyed the clutch... maybe a little confusing for some? But it offers great flexibility for those that can use it!

Thanks for the quick reply Anthony.Great info.I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Hinson uses the stock plates vs. the 44T on the Suter?

Actually it doesn't even look like Hinson even carries the newest clutch... it looks like they just have the original Duacti inner hub suter made so you could use any plates and basket you like.
The new full suter clutch is a smaller diameter than any clutch on the market so no other plates will fit (also they aren't 48T as you pointed out). They use a different stack height as well.

I actually said 44T as quoted from the link you sent, but this brings up a good point.I guess if you go with the Suter set up,which looks very slick, you have to buy their replacement parts.

Yep, that's correct... can't use any other brand of plates due to the unique design.
Another clutch to consider if you're looking for something off the beaten path is the Adler... see this link for more info: New Ducati Slipper Clutch
You use the standard basket and plates with it.

Great!Yet another option!
Actually, I was curious about the Hinson because one of our suppliers of frictions and steels(I rebuild automatic transmissions), claims he's in tight with the boys at Hinson.Says he might be able to pull some strings .Typical salesman. That being said, which slipper do you recommend? And when are you going to put together a group buy?
Thanks for all of your help

Hard to reccomend anything as they've all worked great for me! I like the STM and Yoyodyne as well (so many options!). Right now I think if I had to suggest just one it would have to be the Adler...
The reduced clutch pull is really nice IMO as I have a busted left wrist + you can use your stock plates/basket so it saves some cash.
