Damper choices???
forgive me for a reiteration of the topic, give it to me for being a HYM rookie. Just bought one on Friday and understand from many that a Damper is a necessity. With the choices of Scotts, Ohlins, DP, M4, GPR - how does one differentiate one from the other (Scotts/DPR) as well as technology (rotary from linear)? Since I have never used one, it is all new. Personally I like the look of the linear mount
Secondly, with the Rotary, how much does it change bar-height and is that an issue in terms of geometry?
thanks for the schooling.

I use the Scotts dampener, its a submount unit, nicely tucks in, well made and works well, and will raise the bars 3/8 of an inch, but I did not notice it, the Ohlins is a top mount, and to me look like it was just stuck up there, (bulky) but the dampener unit is the same as Scotts. The Ohlins linear model is nice, but I did not like the amount of space it takes up. Aloha Alex

+1 on the Scott's unit and it was cheaper than the Ohlin's piston style damper from Ducati.

Scotts rotary with mounts on all my bikes. Pretty robust unit, I run it 8th position out from fully in if i remember correctly, love it. Don't have a mount for the hyper yet but it will be one of the first mods I do.

I never had one ounce of headshake on the Hyper, so I can't see how essentual it is compared to proper suspension setup (as close as you can get with our crappy forks). I don't do too many wheelies but ride plenty fast. Regardless, I would go with the scott's rotary variety since you can buy a mount for whatever bike you own and easily swap it back and forth.
