Lithgow area, diversion.

Dunno if some of you Sydney folk have traveled this little section, but if you're going Lithgow way, its worth going left at Bell, down Mt Victoria and taking a right into Hartley Vale Road and up through Hassans Walls... this way you end up going up the hill, I find that more fun... only a few kms but the road in is ok and has some brilliant scenery but the hill is like a private little Macquarie Pass, totally brilliant.

Did it and some other nice little routes last Saturday, pity no pics, but I did meet a parked triumph sprint with a snapped rear swingarm at the base of Mt Vic !!!
Instead of the usual humdrum grease laden Great Western Hwy, a nice little diversion...

The map doesn't look like what you actually ride, it's weird...but here it is...

That was my mate Ken!
Or Youngduffer as he is known over at bikeme.tv
We think he's possessed, his bikes are out to get him.
His previous Aprilia blew its electrics just out of warranty and cost him a bloody fortune. Maybe he'll see the light and buy a ducati next.

funny you posted that pete. My inlaws have a house in Mt Vic - I rode up at easter ( up bells line of road) , anyhoo there are a few good roads around there ( I'm sure you know them already) - I went down that one too ( its the one lane , blind corners, lethal drop off, small dirt section etc etc isnt it?).Also the end of Bells as it comes into Lithgow- went up and down it a few times too.
Awesome fun. Few too many coppers though.

Bylong Valley Way has just been sealed too.
Last trip through a few weeks back saw a lot more traffic than the old days..

can't find Bylong Valley Way on google maps, where is it??
I often forget which roads were dirt or tar so I go out first on the GS1200, so if they turn dirt it won't get dust on the Ducati LOL, then I go back if they're nice and fun for the hyper... that gets two good rides in the area!!
You know you can do the Webbs Creek Ferry to St.Albans on tar now, it's a little busy on Sundays, better on Saturdays... but it has some nice wiggles on it

Yeah I heard that rd to St Albans is tar now, I'll have to get out there for a ride soon.

Weird BVW doesn't show on Google Maps, but I found it on this site.
That's pretty much the way we do it, though we go up the Putty more often than Wollombi. It's all tar now, there used to be quite a bit of dirt just a year or so back.

I'll confirm the road from wiseman's to st alban's has been sealed. They've also done the road to pitt town in hotmix which is incredibly smooth, too built up to use properly though. The road from St Alban's to bucketty is still unsealed but is a lot of fun on the hyper.
