Clutch and engine case

I'm trying to get off the right side case cover and I'm stuck. Everything is loose and I broke the seal from case cover to block but it seems like the clutch basket is not permitting the removal.

Can someone who has removed the clutch or case cover confirm that the clutch assembly must be removed to slide cover off?

Is the 1" nut in the center of the clutch counterclockwise to unscrew?

any other helpful info will be appreciated
thank-Chris

this is where I'm at

You're definitely not getting the case off with the clutch still on there. I don't know if the nut is right or left hand thread, though.

Clutch hub and basket need to be removed. Much easier if you have a clutch hub holder tool and an impact. The big nut is righty tighty/lefty loosey.
