No steady throttle droning at highway speeds for long periods, just keep the revs varied. Don't run it to redline. Basically you don't have to baby it but don't abuse it either for the first few hundred miles.

As above.
I've had a number of new bikes over the years. The first one I treated with kid gloves - really gentle with the throttle, hardly any revs, etc. I'd had it six months or so and got it on the dyno - it was way down on power compared with the average for that model.
Fast forward a year or so and I've got another new bike. This time I give it a lot more revs during the break-in period. No redlining it of course, but no labouring the engine either - just keeping the thing spinning at a variety of revs. This bike also ends up on a dyno - it makes a nice healthy figure at the top end of what this model generally makes.
Since then I've always done things the second way. Build the peak revs up over the break-in period, but don't be afraid to rev it a little from time to time to loosen the motor up. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge too - new engines get hot pretty quickly.
Ian.

I've heard : worse to baby it than beat on it, Don't forget to do some engine braking also ,rev it so so going up hill and then let off on throttle let the motor work do this going down hill too. They say the first mileage is most important. Don't go for a huge ride first, Take your time ,lots to think about .

Heat cycles and break it in like you're going to ride it.

Up and down the tach, with a lot of compression braking. Use lower gears if neccessary to keep your speed reasonble, don't lug the bike in upper gears. Don't get it hot in traffic.

+1, I rode mine in fairly firmly right off the mark, crack the throttle open up to 5500 - 6000 then snap it shut on decel, give the engine work then relax.
Get the rings talking to bore and making friends, if you nana it and glaze the bores you will not get the good grunt from her.
