Hyper-thetical Question
Okay, here's a hypothetical:
I've got a Hypermotard that I don't give a shit about. It's officially going to become a track rat and I'm looking for better suspension options than what comes stock on a standard Hyper.
The front forks: What's the problem with Ohlins? Is stanchion(SP?) length the issue or is it the tripples or is it the head tube? I don't remember ever reading a definitive answer. REVALVING STOCK ITEMS IS NOT AN OPTION
The rear shock: There's been a lot of talk of replacements, but has anyone settled on a "this one's best" part? Like the TTX for Superbikes or something...

Marco, i spoke to Dan Kyle at Laguna a couple weeks ago and he said that Andreani {sp} has Ohlins cartidge kits available for the Marzocchis. It's an upgrade i'd like to do down the road....contact Kyle Racing and let us know what you come up with.

You can add any brand of cartridge for any sportsbike to the hyper - the only problem is these cartridges offer approx 120mm of travel compared to the 160mm of our standard Marzocchi's. If you are only doing track days, you will not need specialized 160mm cartridges at $*&%# prices.
I've always eyed the Multistrada 'S' and it's Ohlins forks with a covetous spirit, they look the right length and have decent travel. From memory they don't take radial calipers, but I could be wrong.
With the rear Ohlins on the S, it only needs a re-shim to remove the harshness of the 'High Speed' compression damping. The clickers work on 'low speed'. Same surgery can be applied to the standard Sachs etc, unless your racing for sheep stations (or cattle ranches). Who gives a rats?
I rode a stock RS250 with stuffed power valves today, what a hoot. Can't wait to get one with 485cc, 112rwhp & 60ft/lbs. Stock suspension and a screwdriver will make a mockery of many kitted up jappas.

I spoke with Mike at Ohlins USA (he has done all the Ohlins work on my GSXR) and they said that Ohlins did not have anything for these forks.
he said that Marzocchi has a bad ass set of after market forks for the Hyper. the Shiver 53's. Very pricy here is a link:
http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/li...ito=moto&LN=UK
for the rear TTX for the win...

So I HAVE to use the stock fork tubes and triples? I was kinda hoping there was an aftermarket solution...
I keep looking at the Multi as well, Ghezzi, and I wonder why they won't work. I keep thinking "so what if it doesn't have the radial brakes"; I know that even with radial masters and standard Brembos my 749 will toss me over the bars if I get too over-zealous.

Son, you need a good set of "S" wheels for that track rat AND, strangely I just may have a set available to sell you. It seems as though there might be a set of BST's in my future
FYI, I sent Dan Kyle an email about those Ohlins internals also.
Text me if you are interested, sorry for the thread hijack.
