Wrong throttle tube?

So I just got around to installing my Kyle Racing throttle tube. For some reason it's binding within the cable housing and the throttle is subsequently sticking. I've checked the routing of the cables within the guides, rotated the unit for and aft and it still binds no matter what. Finally, I replaced the OEM tube and had ZERO binding issues... anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem could be? I'm guessing I was just sent the wrong tube. Unless I'm missing something, but the install seemed like a no brainer. Even for a Brainfry.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

B

The install is straightforward. I'm sure you looked inside the tube for burrs or out-of-round condition so it's probably the wrong tube.

Yeah, I'll just give Kyle a call tomorrow.

Thanks,

My Kyle throttle tube is actually a bit loose in the housing... but I do love the throttle response.

Talked to Dan Kyle. Seems I have the right tube, but I may need to adjust the free play. Did any of you adjust it any more than it was stock? If so, how much? I hate a lot of slop in it.

Make sure that the throttle tube with grip on is not rubbing against the handguard. You may have to position the throttle housing (and brake master cylinder) inward on the handlebar a bit since the kyle tube may be slightly longer than the stock tube.

Assuming the cables are properly connected to the throttle tube, you should be able to adjust the free play in the cable with the Kyle tube without the same way as with the stocker. I like to make the adjustments at the throttle body rather than the cable adjustors near the throttle housing. Make sure you turn the handlebars full lock in both direction to sure you have minimal freeplay at full lock.

I made a plastic washer from a milk jug, placed between the grip and throttle housing to get mine to snap back. The stock tube has a flange to keep the grip from rubbing the housing.
