Ducati Slipper Clutch for the HM

If you had a choice between those two slippers, which one would you get for your HM?
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having 6 springs versus 4?
I have read that the 6 spring requires more pull but couldn't that be fixed with a slave cylinder?
I just want the technological lowdown and a realistic assessment regardless of cost.

This slipper clutch will go on a S model used for aggressive street riding and the occasional track day.
I'm being realistic here... although the bike will often be ridden hard, it will NOT be raced.

I'm new to Ducatis and I'm not a mechanical engineer so your input is appreciated.

I did a search and I know there are tons of other slippers available but these are the two I can get quickly and at a reasonable cost, so unless there are some major drawbacks for these, I'm likely going to end up buying one of them and not a Yoyodyne, STM, SURFLEX, Hinson etc.

I'm not a mechanical engineer, a Ducati Mechanic fitted mine, and when I watched him fit it I am glad I did, I went with the DP one (ramp and ball), he had all the tools and did the job in about 45 mins, the clutch feels a bit more clunky/mechanical feeling to it, I am running it at the moment with the standard clutch plates the mechanic says they are more than fit for the job, I do have a set on sintered plates which I may fit later, overall I just love it, it would be the first upgrade on any future Ducati I had, go with the DP one

A few of us have installed the DP slipper and love it!!! It is great for moderate to fast canyon riding and the track. Haven't chattered the rear whel once sine I installed it. I also installed a Barnett clutch pack and it made the clutch even better!!

Da_Bull has the 4 sping version in hand, but I don't think he has installed it yet.

If you watch Ebay you can usually find the DP slipper for $700-$900 which is a great buy.

Good luck. I think you'll be happy either way. Having a slipper on this bike is the bomb!!!!!

From what I have seen so far $700 to $900 sounds about right for the street oriented DP slipper.
There's no doubt in my mind it's worth it, I have had bikes with slippers and I'm not going back

I was just wondering if anyone had anything specific to say about the two I listed which seem to be the pretty common and easy units to find for the HM. It's good to hear that people who got the DP unit are happy with it

So are you a pilot too? Your forum name looks to me like ils approach to runway 27. I manage a couple of airports out here in SoCal and occasionally still fly when time permits.

Cheers

Used to be one... now I'm just a schmuck

The screen name came when I was trying to register for my email and every single name I tried was already taken. I got cheesed off and typed in the approach of the airport I was flying out of and stuck with it. Never had trouble with duplicate screen names when registering on ANY forum ever since...

Up to you

I have the DP Corsa 6 spring clutch, works GREAT!
The difference between the 4 spring VS the 6 spring is that the 4 spring clutch
is a tad lighter, and the clutch pull is lighter as well.
The downside is with with 2 less springs, there will be less pressure on the clutch pack.
I prefer the 6 spring clutch set-up as I'm a POWER NUT, and hope to be at 100HP+
and I DO NOT want to take any chances on my clutch slipping.
If your keeping the bike basically stock, the 4 spring clutch will work fine. Aloha Alex

Good points and thanks for the clarification!

Since I really don't mind a tad stiffer clutch and given the fact that no-one ever knows in advance how power hungry they are going to get, I think I might as well go with the DP 6 spring one. Both are going for about the same price online so cost really isn't a factor on this one.
