Thoughts on mods to exhaust

There has been a lot of discussion on the stock exhaust mods, with most people just removing the end pipe and opening up the end caps.

Has anyone cored the entire exhaust opening the entire thing up?

Do you think that this would create a problem?

I have the 308B ECU and the Zard pipes eliminating the cat and flapper valve, what do you think this set up will run like with a completely cored exhaust?

I'm about to undertake this mod so I'll keep you posted. I'll take pics etc along the way.

I'm using a spare set of stock exhausts so if it doesn't work no major problem.

there was someone hollowed the entire left (if you looking at the back of the bike) pipe and only left one baffle in the right pipe..... Pretty sure all was well for him afterwards

The stock cans actually flow quite well, the restriction is the unequal stock headers and the worst is the cat.

Any restriction taken out can only help of course as you can fuel it to suit but the biggest change is the cat.

Drill the top and bottom of your airbox too if you haven't already.

Monstaman is correct-- once you take the stock mufflers off and have a
peek inside, you realize what a simple design they are. No fiber packing is
used. There are no baffles to speak of in the forward 2/3 of the cans, just
a chamber with a long tube heading to the rear thru a bulkhead into the
the single baffle loop at the very tail end.

As far as weight, they could be lighter for certain, but, the dual Termi cans
are not much lighter if I recall. Anyone have those weights? You will save a
few pounds going to a single or one of the non-Termi aftermarket duals such
as Zard or Leo Vince.

dave2riff is correct, the actual weight difference is sweet FA comparing Termis slipons and factory slipons.

By the time you gut even part your factory pipes the weight difference would be bugger all, remember that Termis are full stainless steel with a carbon cover only so not genuine carbon which would make a good weight reduction.

If weight is a concern go and get the Quat D stumpy and lose plenty!!
