Stock exhaust modification Hypermotard
Has anyone tried to take the exhaust apart and remove the baffles and packing? I think I'm gonna try it, but if someone can 'splain it firsthand....

There are a few threads with DIY instructions and photos. Do a search and you will see a couple of variations.

Thanks Axe, do you by chance have the link for this thread? I've spent some time looking for the Hypermotard exhaust mod, but all I find is mods for traditional cans.

Search for cored exhaust in the Hyper forum. Here are a couple, there are more. There are some about gutting the cat too.

I cored my exhaust about 2 months ago and am very happy with the results. I did not core the entire thing...didn't remove packing or anything like that. I removed the pea shooters out of the tips though. I think that taking EVERYTHING out was a little iffy...wasn't sure what it would do with everything gone. Anyways...keep us posted on what you do and if you're happy with it!

exhaust
Dude,
It's a pain in the a$$.
it's one thing to remove 2 screws and slide out the baffles (pea shooters)
and a whole different ball game using saws or plasma cutters etc to open these cans.
there's no "packing" in there to remove anyway.
Just get a single sided, if it's sound your after.

if it about money, and you got "the Knack". cut 'um up.
if you got the $1000 or more burning a hole in your pocket for 3+/- horsepower then by all means, spend that money. i love my cored exhaust, and it doesn't have to look like shit
Here is mine.

Cored Exhaust??
My new exhaust
basically i cut the end off and only removed the "S" bent tube that you see when you look in the end. then put it all back together and cut the real opening just larger then the fake decorative piece, about 1.5"
i used these threads shown as a guide
when it's all said and done, this part is the only thing removed, all the other work is just to keep it looking good/stock.
when its all finished, the only difference you should see is looking in the end. here is the new view
