Henry/Reed bend doesn't work
I just got my new handlebars (Pro Taper EVO Henry/Reed bend) today, and I was pretty excited to get them on. I just happened to call in sick today, so I had some time to work on it.
Problem 1: The brake lines don't allow the brake perch to reach the flat section of the bars. Solution was to reroute the lines to the other side of the headlight mount, which is a hack at best.
Problem 2: Now that it reaches, I can't fit all the controls on the bar without having about 3/4" of the grip hanging off the end of the bar. How do I get around that? I wanted to throw my Zeta handguards on too, but if the grip is hanging off the bar, that's not happening. Plus add the fact that the grip will then be 3/4" further out than the left side, which would be lame.
So what do you guys do? Is the bend the problem? I'm going to try throwing my CR-his on and see if there's any improvement.

The overall width of the bar could be the problem. Or width in regards to clamp area. There's only a few bars out there you can use without a redo of the control area, especially if you're going to use/keep your handguards.

I was beginning to suspect that. What are the bars we can use without any issue?

Some of the guys here have run Zeta ZX-3's, Motard Medium:
http://www.zeta-racing.com/controls/sx3_bar/index.html
Renthal Fatbars for KTM (low):

Basically; you're looking for a handlebar with a 1 1/8" clamp area, that tapers to 7/8 at the control end. Measure your stock setup and compare to what's out there. I think stock bars measure 32-34 inches???
Hang tight; I'll go upstairs and measure my stockers.
My bars measure 30" wide BUT I cut them down by 1/2-3/4" per side (I eliminated the handguards and had to cut the remaining bar area where they clamp to). I would guess roughly around 32" (812.8mm) wide? Clamp area is roughly 5" (127mm) wide.
Please +/- 2 to 4mm for error

Thanks for checking that for me. However, the issue is not so much the overall length of the bars, but more so the length of the flat area on which controls are to be mounted. It looks like the Zeta motard bars might work though. Does anybody have a measurement of the length from the end of the bar to the start of the first bend? I need 8 1/4" of flat bar.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I installed the same Pro Taper Henry/Reeds on my Hyper with little issue. I may have had to make a couple of minor adjustments, but I don't remember it being at all difficult...

It didn't seem like it should be a problem to me either...

Crank - i have the Reed/Henry bars and fitted a SXV starter/kill switch on my hyper. It's heaps narrower. I also got a 5mm spacer made up that fits in the end of the throttle tube between the bars and the acerbis handguards mount, so that the throttle tube can turn freely.

So I talked to Forrest at Wheeling Cycle Supply, and he was kind enough to measure the distance of the flat area on the Motard Medium Zetas. It appears to be exactly what I need: 8 1/4" of flat space. I'm just going to buy those and call it a day. If anybody wants to buy my brand new Henry/Reed EVOs, shoot me a pm. I'm willing to negotiate price.
PS. Forrest has definitely earned my business with Wheeling Cycle Supply. I give him a thumbs up!

I was considering going the route of the SXV switch, but mine is in the shop and I wasn't sure what the width was. Also, it sounds like that still isn't a perfect solution if you needed a 5mm spacer. What did you do for the other side? I'm assuming you just have one grip further out than the other, correct? I'd like to avoid that if possible. I'm not tied to the Henry/Reed bend, I just bought them because I thought it would be an easy swap. I'd rather spend a little more money and get a setup that installs easily, and doesn't lopside my grips. Thanks for the tip though.
