Fabbri Windscreen - 1st ride impression

Finally was able to get the bike out today and try out the new Fabbri windscreen from PJs. I've had the DP screen on the bike for almost a year.

First, the look of the screen in the color I ordered - dark smoke satined - looks better than the DP IMO. Installation is straightforward, the fit is decent enough, almost as streamline as the DP version.

The screen itself is maybe 30 - 40% larger all around than the DP. 2-3" Taller as well. It has a lip at the top that is supposedly designed to deflect more air.

The screen seems to take more wind off the chest and puts it to the top of the shoulders/neck and helmet. I especially can notice a difference when tucking behind it; it has more room to put my helmet behind and makes for a nice break from the wind occassionally.

It was a short ride - 10 miles - Up to 70 mph. Overall I would recommend it and rate it a Solid 4/5

Attached some poor quality cell phone pics

Cheers

thanks for the report. i was curious about that particular screen. i have the dp. it doesn't really do much, except for shade the instument cluster a bit. makes it a little easier to see in bright sunlight.

I appreciate the feedback on it, but i'll wait until you get a bit more spirited ride. Up to 90 I can pretty much do whatever I want on my bike and its rock solid.

Actually, I was able to go for a ride with mine today too and I like it a lot. I had the bike up past 90 and it works fine. Shimmied alittle bit at slower speeds but steady at speed due to the wind holding it still. It was really windy today too. The wind blast is almost all off my torso and the deflection even covers a little bit of my helmet bottom edge. Less buffeting and wind noise. I'm 6' for reference and the other shields I own are the Magical Racing one and the carbon one Shift tech carries, this Fabbri definitely blocks the wind the best while the carbon Shift tech is the best looking and build quality.

Do you think the shift tech one would work for someone 5'5" on some 80-90mph super slab riding for some distance or would it only make a little difference? With the new tank I am wanting to cover a little more ground and cruise with by buddies who run 80 -90 without fighting the wind so much. Or should I just go with the Fabbri? Do you have any better pics? Thanks in advance for the guidance.

In heavy winds the shields do redirect some of the blast off your torso. How I can tell if it's working is basically, while riding, feel where the turbulence is back from the shield. On the shift tech it was in a line back to the base of my neck so my helmet still had the same wind blast as without shield, maybe worse noise because all that turbulence was right under my helmet.

Strangely, the Magical Racing is slightly taller than the shift tech but narrower so the wind deflection was different still, slightly more deflection up but less deflection on the sides at my shoulders.

Both of the carbon shields are rock solid at speeds of around 90.

the Shift tech one is really the best improvement over the stock shield because they added reinforcing ribs for structural strength. For your height it would probably be perfect. The wind blast would probably hit your mid helmet which would probably eliminate a lot of it.

I'll see if I can add some images.
