Oil leak under the belt cover

Greetings all,

I parked the hyper last evening after an hour ride and when I hopped off the bike I noticed a puff of smoke. After a brief inspection, I noticed oil dripping out from the horizontal cylinder belt cover.

The bike has 621 miles and I already scheduled the 600 mile service. My local dealer and Ducati seem to be stand up folks, so I am not terribly worried.

My question is, has anyone experienced this? Is this just a cam drive gear seal leak? It would seem to me that the repair would require pulling the cams belts and gears at a minimum and possibly the heads.

I would assume a leak will require the belts to be changed as well.

Is there any other components of the repair that I should request as part of the work. If the work requires pulling the heads, I may ask to have the race cam and ECU installed on my dime.

Is this a known issue as a quick search of the threads did not show any obvious threads on this....
