do you wait for temp to rise??
Hi guys, having read typhoon's "am i killing my hyper?" and some other threads about cracked cases I am in the need of asking this...
Might be stupid but on my previous bikes i didnt have to worry about such isssues...
So, when you ride the HM do you wait for the temp to reach a certain level lets say 40c/100f or you start right away and take it easy until you reach operating temp?
TIA
George

I have always warmed all my bikes up, I usualy start them and let them run five min. and then I take off... I did not see in the duc paper work but with my 675 it said to warm up to operating temp before riding... No worries hera since like I said i alway like to warm them up...

I am a start and ride kinda guy. I do let it idle for a few secs to get the oil up top, then I will take it easy till the temp is off low.
Then it's time for take-off.

I start mine, then put in ear plugs, on with helmet and gloves etc, sit, adjust the blokes then go.
It has been proven that when the rings are under load and better burning occurs that less condensation forms in the motor so in fact you are better to start, let the oil get up for a 30 -40 seconds then ride.
I have to admit I don't use much tap until 40 deg C shows but it is not idling along either.

I rarely ever wait for a temp to show up, but I do wait until I see 125 F or so before I grab on the throttle. I havn't had any problems yet, that has worked for me. I am not saying it is right, or not.

I let it idle for <30 seconds and jump on it, although I'm not too hard on it. It takes a little less than 1/2 mile to start seeing numbers and it's only around 150F by the time I hit work (6 miles). Around 50-55F here in the mornings.
