New Hyper - engine cracked?
I just bought a Hyper from a guy in Philly, who had the sickest collection of bikes used to decorate his office buildings. All of them had extremely low miles - the HM-s i bought had only 510 miles plus termi exhaust.
When i got the bike home 90miles later - i was looking it over and noticed a crack in the engine, on the top side of the lower / front cylinder - right at the bolt where one would mount a frame slider. There are a couple cracks that go through to both sides. They are alarmingly large and in the metal, a few mm deep and wide.
I cannot find any kind of recall on the internet. I am going to take it into Ducati NYC on Tuesday. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed or what to expect? Has anyone heard of such a thing? I will post pix tomorrow am.
Thanks
Rich

This is a known issue as they fail on the casting line, there have been a number of them on here and all have been covered under warranty.

Pics of the engine crack
Any thoughts on how to proceed?
What i can expect from Ducati and what the turn around time night be? Will i have to wait for someone to weld it, do i get a new engine or do i get a new bike? I really do not what to get a bike back in mid-July and miss the season.
I have the title but it is still in the POs name will i have to get that in my name in order for the warranty work to get started?
The still have about 6 months left on the warranty and the bike was purchased at some ducati shop near Philly, though not Ferracci. Can i deal with this at my local Ducati shop in manhattan or do i have to transport the bike to Philly?
Thanks in advance. The guy selling this bike also had a Tuono, SMR, Superduke for around the same price or cheaper than the HMs - Did i choose the right bike....

Just take it to Ferracci's shop and they'll fix it. They can get working on ordering the parts they need while you get the title into your name and the warranty swapped over.

more pics
Seller just called he was very helpful and apologetic. Bike was purchased at DeSimone which i have heard has a better rep than Ferracci - i have had work (if you can call it that) done at Ferracci on my Husky TE and wont go back.
These pics better illustrate where the problem is.

I feel for you, that sucks !!! I bought a bike from DeSimone, the sales people were nice, but I don't know anything about their service. As far as Duc NYC they used to take forever to get bikes back to you, but this was before they had their garage in Queens.
I am a big fan of " Country Joe " and his crew @ Trebour's in NJ and also Tim @ Cliff's in Dansbury, CT. Maybe call all 3-4 dealers and see who you get a better vibe from. I know with Cliff's they will actually come into the city early on Saturdays and pick your bike up. I also go with Cliff's first if they are really backed up then I call Joe @ Trebour's and see what his schedule is like.
I hope everything works out.

Sorry to see you are having this issue. I will be getting up from my desk now and take a look at my Hyper, just to make sure.
-- Just looked at my cases and no cracks .
One suggestion to all, check if your main engine bolts that hold the engine in the frame, are tight. If they are loose these cracks can happen very easy.
