Airbox lid swap

Do I need to completely remove the gas tank to swap out the airbox lid?

Thanks in advance,

Hypermax.

I was able to do mine without taking it completely off the bike.

Same here. Just remove the center strap holding down the tank and prop
it up about 3 inches at the front. With the appropriate ratchet extensions,
no need to remove the tank completely or even disconnect any fuel lines.
It also helps to pop some of the harnesses out of the channel in the left
side of tank, for a little more freedom of movement. Loosen the battery hold
down that is tied to the frame if that is binding. I was able to insert the new
DNA air filter as well as just removing the lid. One gotcha though, on
some bikes the fasteners were either stuck or over-torqued at the factory
and ended up spinning the threaded insert in the airbox's plastic housing when
folks went to remove the lid for the first time. I sprayed mine with a
penetrating lube and let it sit before removing them the first time. Only
one of the fasteners was sticky enough breaking free that I was even
worried about twisting the threaded insert, but no problems.

I was one of those people who had spinning inserts in both the tank and airbox lid. Ducati replaced both the airbox and fuel tank under warranty.

I've done the same- the best tip I got was the bolt that holds the back of the tank to the rear subframe ( right rear of bike)-if you dont undo it , you cant lift it up properly.
