black gunge

went out for a run on my new hyper today and have now clocked up 227 miles to date. When i came home i noticed that from the joints in the standard exhaust system there was a black substance leaking. i don't think that it is oil but has this happened to any of you guys. it maybe just condensation from the cold weather and then when i go out for a good blast this leaks out

Condensation from inside the exhaust. I will normally drip down through the seams/joints taking a little soot with it. I used high temp sealant in the joints to prevent it from oozing out.

or ... perhaps you got the hypertard that had the slipons packed with hash ... and that black substance is hash oil. i suggest you smoke some of it and advise us of the outcome.

My did the same thing. No worries. The cure was Termi 2-1 fixed that issue along with some others.

Mine seemed to do this (condensation drip) worse when it had the
catalytic convertor. Better to have it drip out than to stay in, but
it will of course dry out better on rides longer than 10-15 minutes.
That's why they say short trips are hard on the exhaust system.
Even though the Hyper exhaust is stainless and not susceptable to
rust, the trapped water can be acidic and very gradually etch away
the stainless tubing, especially at low points in the system. It will
last a lot longer than plain steel exhausts will, but not forever...
