Bored this afternoon, made my own tail-tidy
So i'm in the garage looking at the bike and that long protrusion hanging off the arse end, who's only purpose in life is to hold your license plate, was really offending my eyes. out come the allen wrenches and a socket set. yanked it all off. cut down the steel bracket that mounts the whole shebang and drilled a hole to mount a license plate holder that i had laying around.
took me maybe an hour and a half, used an angle grinder to make the chop, a little black paint and hoo-dog, does it look better. plate mounts high, right below the taillamp, so for now i disconnected my plate lamp. i'll post some pics if anyone is interested in trying something similar. too lazy to walk down to the garage right now.

i'm with you i don't know about them crazys here that would spend 100 bucks on something so simple. sounds like i did something similar but for my top two plate bolts i used L.e.d. bolt/studs to make it all legal.

I'd definately would like to see your work. I was looking at the donkey dick hanging off the rear the other day too, and thought, "there's something that I gotta be able to do to that."

that looks really clean! i'm gonna run to the garage and snap a few pics. i can see why you needed to add the plate lamp, yours is mounted a lot lower than mine. i've got a single rear can on my exhaust, so it changes the mounting options quite a bit. that looks really good though, you'll see i left the stock signals on for now, i have some smaller units i was thinking of adding. we'll see.

i'll cut off the turn signal brackets that are on the plate bracket and add some type of plate frame to keep my plate in one piece. i just bolted this together out of what was laying around in the garage. as you can see, i'm so close to the tail lamp that it will serve just fine as my plate light. we'll see how that goes...

forgot to add, as a bonus- with the termi 2-1 it reveals a pretty bad looking gap in the panels that mount under the seat (where they meet above the tail lamp) mounting the plate up high covers it up. i do have the new carbon fiber replacements on order, so i'm not sure if they will line up any better than the plastic ones. i'm going to add a little more angle to the plate too, it's almost vertical now. once you chop the junk off of the back, it's really easy to come up with lots of different solutions for mounting the plate.

kyle, how were you able to mount the turn signals up so high? Did they just bolt on or did you have to make a bracket for them to mount up?
Last weekend at the IMS in Cleveland they had the Ducati display. 1 of the 2 Hypers had the DP LED signals mounted the same way yours are but they were using a bracket to mount them. It looked really good with the small LED signals mounted up there.

i think they must mount that way when you get the termi 2-1. mine have a bracket built into the rear piece of bodywork. i have some smaller led units i'm going to bolt up when i find the energy. for now, i'm just happy to have the ass end down to it's bare minimum. the bike is so naked, i think that getting the mess off of it's butt is a huge improvement!
