Colorado Roads and Riding?
I am relocating to the Fort Collins area to open a new office for my company. I am currently getting everything up and running, but won't get my bike up there until April or May.
I have spent a little time in the mountains to the west, but mostly in the winter and never on a motorcycle. There appears to be some great riding just west of town and even more so the further west/southwest you get.
I recall seeing some previous threads with pictures of the area, but was curious which roads are closest with twisties and which are best to ride?
I look forward to exploring some new terrain.
Thanks!

You're a little north of me and I'm not as familiar with the roads up there. If you head west, you'll find roads to your liking. From Ft. Collins you can just head into Poudre Canyon and follow the river. There's a fairly direct route from Ft. Collins into Estes Park that leads to all sorts of fun rides. Once you get west of Ft. Collins and into Roosevelt Nat'l Forest, you'll find smaller roads branching off the highways that lead to Estes Park, Boulder, Golden, etc.
Popular riding destinations on the Front Range include Left Hand Canyon, Nederland, Estes Park, Mt. Evans and a host of others. If you ride towards any of these areas, you'll find great roads. Also, if you draw an imaginary line from Estes Park south to the Golden/Blackhawk area, you'll find some amazing roads all through those areas. You can also check into the "local" dealership network. Erico in Denver does rides and I'm guessing the dealership up your way does too. I think that place is now called Northern Colorado Euro or something like that.
There are lots of Ft. Collins area riders here, hopefully a few will chime in with closer favorites. Just remember, there's lots of wildlife up there and we're talking BIG wildlife.

I definitly look forward to riding up here and catching up with some local riders. There seems to be quite a few riders from the FZ1 forum too, so I hope to meet some new riders in the coming months.
I was out and about today and some over the last few weeks. It's funny to watch how many people pull their bikes out of hibernation with a break in the weather. 60* means riding in short sleeves around here, while in Phoenix you are wearing your parka. I was up in Cheyenne a few weeks ago and there were more bikes on the road than cars.........everyone was getting a mid-winter fix.
Out!

Yeah, you can ride year-round here by choosing the good days. Today was definitely a good day! Tomorrow will be too. Might snow this weekend though. So it goes...
Poudre Canyon has a lot of slow traffic but great scenery. A nice local ride is past Horsetooth Reservoir to Stove Prairie then back down Rist Canyon. Very tight and technical, lots of fun, but the pavement is kinda greasy.
I do most of my riding down here in Boulder County where I live. Great riding right out of my driveway. There are lots of options for longer trips in Colorado too.

You know, it seems to me that the Hyper was made for Colorado but there aren't many around. My dealer tells me the same thing. They figured it would be one of their top sellers. They sell all they get I guess but there's still relatively few around. It would be great to see a bunch of them together.
Who else is interested?

In the fort Collins area, another vote for Poudre Canyon... just a great motorcycle road.
IMO, there are few better motorcycle states than CO. One of my favorite aspects of it is how diverse but yet how close the different geographic areas are...can be on front range, head to the continental divide, head south to the canyon areas, all in a day.
