Gear Indicator
I was wondering, why is Ducati not putting a big gear indicator on the dash?
It would be nice to have RPM, Gear, Temperature and Speed...
As I am playing of my favorite goat tarils, I am sometime wondering was that 3d or 4th gear? maybe it's just me
I also search the forums, and it does not look like there are any simple gear indicator available for the Hypermotard?
Now, I never had any gear indicators on my bikes before (especially with my supermoto or dirtbike background), but with all the elctronics and useless gadget they have, one would think they could.
Is it the same for the superbikes 1098 & all?

I've never seen the need for a gear indictor on any bike. RPM and speed tell me whether I'm in the right gear or not. However, I can see it being a good gadget to have. There's certainly enough spare real estate on the dash to accommodate one.

If the rpm's are too high I'm in too low a gear, if they're too low I'm in too high a gear - I then adjust accordingly. Why would it matter which specific gear you're in?

I could see this being useful for a newbie....Only question is....which one would work...
Not sure of the biketronix, got completely lost on their site.
I found this one, instead...I wonder if I would need the adapter, since the HM rev counter is electronic, not mechanical, right?

I look at these as kind of a distraction. You really do not want to be looking down at how fast you are going and what gear you are in when you are trying to negotiate a fast turn. That could spell trouble.

No worries, I will not buy a gear indicator for my hypermotard, I will not replace our hypermotard beloved dashboard, but since they gave us the MotoGP style dash as they claimed, they could have had that big gear digit

Sportvue makes a heads up unit. However, many of the reviews I recall were not favorable, so you might want to research it a bit. They may have improved it from its initial offering a couple years back.
