Super Slippery Additives??

Anyone now of any super slippery additive that can be added to oil to reduce stiction/friction?

Just wonna try something in my forks before we give them up to the dealer, trying to avoid time off the road if I can.

Any input would be welcome.

I take it your forks are sticky too? My HM has less than 200 miles. I was hoping it breaks in.

Yes they have too much stiction, not so bad on the bigger bumps as they work but around the streets they sit solid

Wondering if there was so flash additive to reduce this drag and help, bit of a long shot and not quite normal but worth a crack.

Is the problem with the seals or the bushes inside the forks, both can be replaced but if the bushes are suspect can they be reamed, scraped etc like they did with cam bearings in the old Holden red motors.

Years ago I was experimenting with different gear oils for the Getrag 5 speed gear box on my '87 BMW K 75, I was told one might try Moly Lube fluid in both the box and the forks to help them operate a little slicker. It was too slick for the gear box, and I never tried it in the forks because it was black and somehow that turned me off, but it's said to work. How much per tube? That I can't remember. Maybe 50-100 mls and open to experimentation.

It is the high speed valving between the shims in our cartridges.

2.5 redline racing helps, but not much. Redline has some thinner fluids but I am not sure it would perform better with our cartridges. I have heard that silkolene race fluids may help.

02 AND 05 SYNTHETIC RACING FORK FLUIDS

Unique synthetic fluids, integrated with Electrosyntec Technology and race-developed foam and wear-resistant chemistry, to give exceptional performance in the latest front forks and suspension systems. Offers outstanding resistance to shear forces and high temperatures. Ideally suited to long distance events and severe conditions where consistent performance, from start to finish, is vital. Reduces friction and ‘stick-slip’ to give smooth action. Used extensively by factory teams and suspension specialists in off road and road racing competition. In arduous 4-wheel competitions, they are the fluids of choice for World Rally Car, Rallycross, Desert Racing and Formula One teams.

More here.

This stuff used to be sold called Forslyk to reduce stiction...marketed for MX guys if I remember... haven't seen it discussed often. Try doing a google search for more info, but you can alway just use some mobile 1 atf for a day and see if it is even worth trying to relieve stiction.

Did you get your forks worked out yet as far as normal action? I remember you kept going on and on in other threads about the forks and how unrideable they were for you.

Wouldn't say it was on and on but discussion on a problem that many face and still do...just some of us will actually do something about it

Yes is the answer, 5 mm linear rate springs purpose made with approx 460 mm more wire from 3.5 more wraps, and it does work a lot better.

I also have 2.5w oil in trying to free it up which is helping but stiction is another issue again, of four different bikes my forks are quite sticky.

Herman, have you eliminated all other possibilities such as; have the fork pinch bolts on the bottom triple clamp been overtightened? This can crush the sliders on USD forks.

My RVF400 had been crashed prior to my purchase, outside the forks looked fine, inside there was a bump that could be seen with evident wear mark on the raised section, as well as the bush on the staunchion. I know your bike hasn't been crashed, but it has been played with .........................???
