Clutch Lever Plunger Question

When changing the clutch lever, how do I remove the black plunger from the old lever to get it onto the new lever?

I beat the crap out of mine til the cut out deformed and stretched enough to pull it out. Can't reuse the lever, but no biggee. I seriously didn't see any other way. Maybe someone else has a solution if you want to keep the OEM lever.

Got it. I removed the dowel that holds the adjuster to the lever, slid it out and re-inserted the dowel, making sure the little spring in the back didn't come out.
