new handlebar question
a friend of mine just gave me a new set of Protaper handlebars. i like the stock mirrors set up and just want to change out the bars. i'm guessing i will need to replace the grips? my question is, will there be anything else needed? does the accelerator just slip off after freeing clamp on the left of it? thanks

p.s. just paypal'd my payment for the clutch slave. i was the only silver.nice

A windscreen on a hyper??
Removing the left grip is about the most difficult part of the whole operation. It also helps to have another set of hands. But really, it's very straight forward.
Removing the bars from the clamps first may help in getting the throttle housing off if the cables aren't long enough to let it slide off the end of the bars.
Try not to let the master cylinders tip upside down or you may be bleeding brakes and clutch.
Also, there are locating pins on the throttle housing, the start/kill switch housing, and the left hand switch housing that will need to be drilled in the new bars.
You may want to remove that pretty bodywork, too. Saves on potential damage.
Otherwise...piece of pie. Easy as cake.

Use compressed air if you have it. Blow under the grip and it will walk right off.

another option would be use a dremel tool and remove the locating pins. this will help retain the structural integrity of the bars. i have heard a lot of complaints from guys on the forum about the "swiss cheese" handlebars that come stock on the hyper. just a thought...

The locating pins are slide in only, just pull them and leave them out then you can set it up for your ergos.

Not on the throttle housing or the left and right control pods. If you grind those pins off your housings will forever be moving around the bar...NOT a good thing for the throttle housing especially.
I agree, the lever pins can go, but drill the bars for the throttle and control pods.
