wheelie ticket (California)
Ok peeps, I just got a ticked for going at unsafe speed:
posted limit 50
speed 40
safe speed 0 (with one wheel on the ground, allegedly)
Wasn't reckless driving, no street racing either, unsafe speed.
Anyone knows a fix? Any good lawyers you can recommend in So Cal?

Assuming you were nice to the cop. Ask around and check the local DUI attorneys. Maybe $250 and it all goes away. You may have a chance in court, but I wouldn not chance it. An attorney will go and do much better for you than going on your own 9 times out of 10.
Key is not to wait too long.

wheelie ticket Queensland Australia "any speed"
Good luck ,tell them your hand slipped on the clutch know Hypo issue
If you did it in Queensland Australia
consider by fun police "dangerous riding"
instant lose licence 6 months !
Not sure of fine just gone up but between $800-$1000 Aus F&*k !
No chin strap is considered no helmet $260 4 points which is 1/3 of your licence over 3 years to re coop .
I know that i copped that.
probably the same all over Oz

Driving with one wheel on the ground could be considered "reckless" (23103CVC) but he would have had to write you for that section. With the basic speed law (22350CVC), as long as he can articulate that it was unsafe then you will lose. The safest bet to keep it off your record is traffic school. Lawyers cost about $400 for a traffic case since they have to go to court. Then you have no guarantee you will win and if you lose then no traffic school option.
A lawyer is good idea with a DUI case as the costs are so high that you don't have anything to lose.
What city did you get the ticket in?

hb's right; he kinda did you a favor by not scratching you for reckless. However; they'll write notes on the backside of their copy; and they'll look that over should you go to court.
hb's also got a good point; just do the traffic school. It's a cheaper and easier way of getting that to stay off your record.
Good luck dood.

Here in Florida they are cracking down big time on the wheelie issue .
Don't we have a fellow member here that is a lawyer and can take care of these issues?
I know about these guy's http://www.rightsforbikers.com/index.html , but looks like they only handle crashes , maybe they should open up a ticket division as well.

In the Netherlands a wheelie is considered an article 5 (reckless driving) and when you're caught it's bye bye driving license. Regardless of the speed or wheter there is any traffic or not.
Without a history of reckless driving or speeding you can get your driving license back within 2 weeks. But when you do have a history of speeding or reckless driving you may loose it for more than 3 months.
The ticket that comes with an article 5 is somewhere between 450 and 1200 euro's.

Yup,you guys got it easy.
Take a gander at the new Florida laws:

Effective October 1, 2008, HB 137 revises the traffic laws to create a few more penalties.
