Chain tension

After taking the bike out today, i noticed that the chain is already loose on this new bike. There is only 30miles on it and when i looked at the owners manual it stated that only an authorized dealer should adjust the tension. Can some one tell me if it is a tricky job or is it no big deal:

nbd but you need to check it on side stand at the points indicated on the swing arm.
Next you need to loosen the two clamp bolts at end of swingarm...then use the chain guard to move the chain tension..you will need a torque wrench to retorque the clamp bolts..I think the torque setting is 28 ft lbs but I'm not sure so maybe check with dealer first or someone on here will post up

It seems unlikely but I would check the torque on the pinchbolts to make sure they're loose. You say your chain is loose, but what kind of measurement do you get?

The 2 pinch bolts are located on top of the swingarm at the rear, just inside the sprocket. From new, there should be a painted yellow line over the head, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN past this point as these 2 bolts clamp down on the hub and its internal bearings. Too tight = crushed bearings, I've had to replace them for a friend on a VFR750, BIG JOB.

From memory (that's a bit dodgy now) there was a post 12 months ago indicating the owners manual stated 33mm of slack, when 40mm was the correct figure.
