Power Commander

With the leo vince slip-ons and standard ecu and a power commander fitted and mapped will it still bring the error code up due to the removal of the flapper valve?

Yes, only way to get rid of it is Flash it or buy a DP ECU.

you could hook the actuator box back up an just undo the cables that go to the flapper. the light doesnt come on untill the actuator is unpluged

Except that with my '08 ECU, there is an exhaust valve test that occurs
every so often at key on which checks the full range of the exhaust valve
assembly. With no hardware in place to limit the rotation of the stepper
motor, an over-travel error will result. There are a number of ways to
limit the travel of the stepper motor pulley-- see the archives here. I
prefer to remove the cables and tap two 25x6mm bolts into the side of the
pulley to serve as stops, but some have incorporated stops onto the
cable ends themselves. You could choose to ignore the Check Engine
light, but then you would not notice other failures...

Also, without a DP ECU you cannot map under 20% throttle with the PCIII.

If you go with the Leo slip on only. Which of the DP ECU's do you need to run. I know there is more than one.

Also I was told that a DP ECU by itself is around $1,300 is this correct?

If you buy it from the dealer it would cost you $1,300 but you should be able to find a used one for under $400. I was able to get a used one for $325. I use the DP slip-on ECU with my Leo Vince slip-ons and cat eliminator. Runs great, didn't need the Power Commander with that setup either.
