Do I have to be a Hooligan to ride a HM?
My hooligan days are over. I am comming from a self enduced 4-5 year break from riding. I wont go into detail but after loosing a few friends and almost loosing my liscense I decided to quit riding.
Now 4 yrs later and with kids I want to ride responsibly. My quest started out with either a GT1000 or a Sport 1000s but I found the HM to be the most comfortable.
I plan on short city rides at night when there is less traffic. I also plan on riding the few twisty roads that we have here at 7/10 pace, not all out.
Is the HM fun to ride at 7/10's or do you have to be stunt riding to really enjoy this bike? I really was amazed at how well it fit me.

No, being a hooligan isn't a requirement.
HOWEVER, riding a Hyper may cause you to become a hooligan.
You've been warned.

+1 It hard to control yourself when the hooligan urge hits. Riding the hyper is like standing next to a concrete wall with a can of spray paint.... it hard to resist doing wrong!

Seriously, using a Hypermotard to just putt around seems like a waste. I'm surprised you find it more comfortable than the GT1000, which I find very comfortable, and seems more in line with your needs.
Have you considered something like a Multistrada, or even a Suzuki V-Strom?

HOOLIGAN! ...................... Who me?
Do you have to be a hooligan to ride a Hyper? No, but it helps.
Seriously, I am 51 and feel comfortable re-learning the art of mono cycling, I resist the urge to be silly around town and avoid riding there because I only have 2 points left on my license.
On the way to my favourite mountain there are several back country 'T' intersections, great for a 2nd gear loft and sometimes hold it thru 3rd.
The beauty of the Hyper, sitting up and no fairing means you are well aware of increase in speed, sustained high speed is uncomfortable. Stock ECU is speed limited to genuine 200kph (indicated +8% = 216kph).
In tight terrain you will have the advantage over most sports bikes, your 7/10ths riding of old will eventually become a much faster 7/10ths, but non the less safer. The Hyper is easy to ride slow or fast, with no effort or discomfort, except the stock seat will numb ya bum in 60 miles.
For how long has the misses been tryin' to tame you, make you a 'nice guy'? Now is your chance to be a man again and rediscover your youth, buy the GT or sport classic, and we all will know who's a pussy!

Not at all, Ghez! I'm just sayin' if you're going to buy a Hyper, ride it like a Hyper! I'm not getting the impression our friend is willing to commit to the cause. I don't want to guilt him into it, cuz not everyone has that little devil sitting on their shoulder like we do...
