Are you hitting the rev limiter in top gear?

If not, a smaller sprocket will only give you less top end.

ciao Darsey -

yes, smaller rear sprockets are available from most of the sprocket manufacturers (afm, renthal, ducati performance, etc...).

a presto,

A smaller *rear* sprocket will produce less top end? He was asking about rear sporckets not frt. I thought a smaller rear will allow for a higher top end speed through a numerically lower final drive ratio.

If the bike doesn't have the power to pull to the rev limiter with the
existing gearing, going to a smaller rear sprocket for more top speed will
not help... instead, you could run out of power even sooner with the
taller gearing reducing torque multiplication. That said, I believe the
Hyper _does_ have the torque to pull a one- or two-tooth smaller rear
sprocket to the redline (see the threads on top speed). And yes, these
sprockets are commonly available in less than the stock 42 teeth... DP
istself sells 40 and 41's.
