Leo Vince

Hi,

I thought i would introduce myself, my name is Col and i picked up a 07 Hyper last Wednseday and i am in love, this by far is the best bike i have ever owned.
Anyway my question is are the Leo vince slips-ons any good and easy to fit, i noticed on the standard system there is a bracket with a couple of lines attached these seem to removed with the leo's is this a problem? and can you run them on the standard ECU with no issues?

Cheers, you will love it i enjoy looking at it nearly has much as riding it. Now starting to add some bling i can't quiet stretch to the full termi system though so looking at cheaper alternatives.

ciao col -

congrats.

the leovince slip on system is a great upgrade to the stock hypertard. high quality bits, and an easy installation.

you can run the leo system with the stock ecu, but you will need to keep the lambda sensor installed if you do so, otherwise the dash will throw error codes. if you get just the slip ons, this is not an issue, as you will keep the cat intact. if you get the cat eliminator (highly recommended) and want to run the stock ecu, just transfer the lamda to the leovince cat eliminator.

both of the above installations will allow you to use the stock ecu, but you should consider upgrading to one of the dp race ecus (there are three available now; slip ons, full system and race cams). do a search in this forum on race ecus, and you will find a thread that details the differences in air/fuel ratios these three ecus provide. when i was running the leos on my hypertard, i had the full system ecu ... worked great.

the other mod you should consider doing on your new hypertard is cutting a hole in the airbox lid and running a k&n or bmc air filter. this mod alone adds about 4 hp to the stock hypertard. cut a 2 1/5" hole in the top of the lid, right over the airfilter ... link: DP Airbox Lid

once you add the leo system, do the airbox mod and install one of the race ecus, you will notice a huge difference in the power delivery on your hypertard ... the hp and torque will come on much smoother.

we dyno'ed my hypertard base/stock, and right after the airbox and leovince mods ... gained hp and torque across the entire range. link: HyperMotards.net dynos at Nichols

a presto,
johnc

Thanks Johnc,
Just the info i was after, i am going to order the slips-ons tomorrow any potential problems or just straight forward to fit?. The next purchase will be the dp cams and i will do the airbox lid mod and bmc filter at the same time.

no issues with fit ... leovince even includes a spring removal/installation tool with their kit (a nice touch, imho).

figure about 2 hours wrench time required to remove the stock bits and install the leovince slip ons.

installation tip: keep all the nuts/bolts loose until you get all the parts installed, then align everything and tighten to proper torques.

a presto,
johnc

I agree.I think the LVs look the best too.The only potential prob you might have with the stock ECU is an error code because you'll have to remove the exhaust flapper valve ( which you dont have to with the Termi 2-2 slip ons. Some have the code some dont - go figure.I have done similar things to you: LV cans, cat elim,BMC filter/free DP airbox lid and also the DP ECU for the 2-1 system ( which also eliminates the exh. flapper valve).I adjusted fuel trim using the VDST.
If you search for posts on for Leo Vince, ECU etc you'll see its all be done.
Easy installation , but it took me more like 3 hours- but then I'm 'special'.
Before the BMC filter ( which was not the best fit I might add), I have 90 RWHp.
Just my 2c

The build quality is exceptionally good on the LV, at least compared to the Termi 2-1 I have.

Sorry to sound stupid but is the flapper valve easy to remove and if it brings up an error code does it have any negative effect on the bike other than just bringing a code up.

Great question. Also does the VDST allow you to cancel that error code on a stock ECU?
